Bio

Lucy de Kooning Villeneuve is a painter based between New York City and Springs, East Hampton. Her work moves between abstraction and increasingly figurative, autobiographical imagery, using humor, memory, language, and everyday experience to examine ideas of home, childhood, identity, intimacy, and loss.

Villeneuve holds a BA in Psychology and an MS in Education and previously worked as a middle-school art teacher in a special-education setting. Her exhibitions include solo presentations at Keyes Art, Sag Harbor, and Michael Agerled Gallery, Copenhagen, as well as group exhibitions at The Fireplace Project, LongHouse Reserve, Ashawagh Hall, and Art Miami. Her work has also been published in Symposeum Magazine. She lives and works between New York City and East Hampton.
